Nanowrimo

It's been a crazy, exciting and tough month for us at Kink Geek. We did the thing we hoped we wouldn't have to do, we missed Podcast post deadlines. We'd like to thank you all for being understanding, it was a tough decision to make. At the end of the day though, we decided that Nano was something that we commit to once a year and we needed to honour that commitment. That meant that other things in our life got done a little bit later than we would have liked. Was it worth it? I think so. We now have a 100K novel, penned by the both of us, that we are very proud of. We aren't quite done, but we are very happy with where things are headed and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Thanks for listening

Body Image

In this weeks podcast, Step and I shared some pretty personal stuff about poor body image and how it has impacted our lives. For me, this has been a struggle since the age of nine when I was told by my doctor I was fat and needed to diet.

I mentioned in the pod cast that I would share a photo of me back then, as well as a few more, so here we go.

The doctor told us that because I didn't fit into the weigh-age ratio, I was fat and needed a diet. Nothing was spoken of body frame.
Here is a photo of me a number of years ago performing "Defying Gravity" (Click here to be taken to some of my recordings) and playing Nancy in "Oliver".  I still have it in my mind that I am heavier now than I was then.

This is me today, in the polkdot dress that Step picked out for me that I talked about in podcast.

My body image issues are a work in progress. I wish I had more answers. I wish I better knew how to feel ok in the skin I'm in, but I don't, so I just keep trying.

If you also suffer from these sorts of issues, we'd love to hear your story, or if you have suggestions, words of wisdom or just would like to leave us a comment, please do- we'd love to hear from you!

Episode 6- "Body Image: Part 1"

Trying New Things

Step and I are both really adventurous people. We are constantly looking for new things to experience together. Sometimes we find things that one or both of us have never experience, sometimes we do things that one or both of us have tried before, but never together. Last Saturday, we did just that.

It was supposed to be my "Training Day". We try to devote time every week to this and we'll cover it more in depth in a podcast, but essentially, it's a time we spend working on 'me'. Right now, it is mostly focused on pain tolerance, the acceptance of pain being applied to my person, so Saturday I was all prepared for just this.

We had a shower together and then he went down to our space and said he'd meet me there. When I entered the room, it was lit with candles and he had laid coverings on the bed. He had me get naked and lie down on my stomach. Once there he gave me a massage with candle wax massage oil, followed up with a good body lotion.

As I lie there I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. How is this pain? Or training? I'M supposed to be the one serving HIM Part of my brain started to worry (I do this a lot), did I do something wrong? Does he think I can't handle it? Normally I would have stopped the activity and asked him what was going on, but in that moment I thought, 'No, he's the one running the show. It's not my place to question him right now." So I relaxed and enjoyed the massage and had a little personal growth as well- letting go of a situation that I don't need to be in control of.

After a few moments we moved on to the main attraction- Wax play. I have done such play once before, but this was much different. He had many candle with different melting points. None of them were hot enough to actually burn, but some were warm enough to get my attention. Some felt just like warm water. It was an amazing experience and one in which I DID have to work on my control. I never knew which candle he would use so I had to work hard to stay calm.

After the wax was done, he worked in a little fear play. He used the back end of a large knife to remove the wax, as I have a bit of a fear of such things it was pretty intense. Pro tip- Another trick that can work in place of a knife is a credit card.

I encourage anyone to give this type of play a try. There is specific wax that you can purchase that has a very low heat point and should be good for most sensitivities. Not only is there fun in the application of the wax and the feel of it on your skin, if you are at all artistic, you can create amazing pictures with it! You can click here for a couple of photos from our evening.

Episode 3- "Let's Talk About (Kinky) Sex- Part 2"

Smile!

Step and I spent most of yesterday doing a photo shoot for him, for our business stuff. This is something I have always loved doing and have found I have a really good eye for it. I just love taking a photo and handing it to someone who hates being photographed and saying, "See? This is what *I* see when I look at you.". Seeing that look on their face when they see how amazing they are. It's so rewarding.

As someone who HATES to see photos of myself, I know what a good picture can mean to someone. Most of the photos of me that I have ever liked, I have taken, with few exceptions. Coming from that perspective, I know what people don't want to see in their photos, I know how to angle them, focus on their amazing qualities while showing that even those that they hate, have beauty.

We are going to be doing an upcoming podcast on body image. My issues in my own life, (and boy are they many heh)and the problems that face both women and men in this society.

My biggest struggle is coming to terms with my looks. Wishing I didn't always feel like the ugly duckling, the most unattractive person in any room. Wishing I could lose more weight. I know that many, many other people struggle with the same things. I'd like to open a dialogue, maybe together we can find some answers. Until then I shall leave you with a few photos from yesterday and invitation to join Step and I on Sunday for a new podcast- "Let's Talk About (Kinky) Sex: Part 2"

Huggles,

Episode 2- "Let's Talk About (Kinky) Sex"

Hi there! It's Podcast post day and I'm soooo excited to bring you this one- “Let's Talk About (Kinky) Sex”. In this episode, Step and I talk about kink play; from negotiating a scene, to different types of play, to aftercare. When we podcast, we block out the general topics we want to cover and then take a few notes about what we want to make certain to touch on. Beyond that, it's all adlibbed and because of that, we really have to think on our feet and what you get, is a very honest look at things. At one point, Step and I are talking about how some people might think that I've been brainwashed to be in the relationship that I am in and I knee jerked laughed and brushed it off. Then Step says, “I hate to break it to you...” and explains that it IS a kind of conditioning. That set me back on my heels. As he explained though, I had my own “Ah ha!” moment and he's right it is a sort of conditioning that is done with my consent and is designed by me. Take a listen and you'll hear what I mean. There is lots of fun talk about fear play, pain play, role play and much more! If you looking to spice up your relationship or are just curious about Kinky play, join us for the conversation. If you'd like to connect with us personally, please leave us a comment here or drop us an email at geeksofkink@gmail.com If you'd like a look at the scratching we were talking about in this weeks podcast, just click this link We are keeping photos with mature or NSFW content off of our main blog to avoid people possibly seeing things that may trigger without meaning to. "The excitement mounts!"

Today has been a busy day of submitting (if you'll pardon the pun) our little podcast to a huge chunk of directories. It's such an exciting and terrifying feeling to take something you've been working on for a long while and finally presenting it to the world. We talked long and hard about doing this venture, about the benifits, such as educating people about a subject they may have misconceptions about, and the cost, exposing our personal lives and hearts to the internet. At the end of the day, we decided that there was far more to be gained than lost, and so we find our selves here- on the threshold of a new experience. I think I squeed when I saw that our first episode had already had two listens. It might not seem like much, but to me, it's amazing! Thus far we have the first 10 episodes blocked out, 3 episodes complete and ready to post and are ready to record number 4 tomorrow. Until then, I think we shall play a little Magic!
